Tadao Nagahama

Tadao Nagahama is a director notable for creating "Robot Romance Trilogy". Each entry in it is not connected whatsoever but they follow they same formula and themes, they are considered one of the most important works in the genre and for the anime as a whole since it introduces melodrama, complex characters, storytelling and providing provoking themes to the mainstream


Canon series

The "canon" means that these series was fully directed by Nagahama himself and considered to be in the trilogy by it's fans


"Unofficial" series

"Unofficial" means Tadao Nagahama didn't directed it straight or did a work or two. They are still accepted and praised by fans.

  • Brave Raideen (1975) - A young soccer player discovers his ancient heritage and awakens a mystical, transforming giant robot to battle a demonic empire.
  • Future Robot Daltanious (1979) - A street orphan in a post-apocalyptic Earth learns he is alien royalty and pilots a combining mecha featuring a giant mechanical lion.
