Future Robot Daltanious (1979)

Description
Tadao Nagahama influenced the series' artistry and direction, and its style resembles those of Voltes V and Combattler V. The show direction was changed midway through changing Nagahama to Katsusoshi Sakaki.
In the year 1995, the Earth is conquered by the Akron, a space army from the Saar Cluster. Kento Tate and his friends are war orphans, and hide out in a cave. There, they find a secret base owned by Dr. Earl, an escapee of the conquered planet Helios, as well as his robot Daltanious, which strengthens when combined with the lion robot Belarios. Kento, revealed to be the descendant of an ancient Helios royal family, his friend Danji Hiragi, and Belarios now fight the Akron with Daltanious.

The main character, a hot-blooded, foul-mouthed 15-year-old boy who makes a living by selling things on the black market. Left orphaned by the war, he's become a cynical person and often acts selfishly. When Kento is recruited to be the hero of Daltanious, he's forced to challenge his worst traits so that he can succeed the throne of the Helios Empire. |

Mari Sakurano |
Kento's best friend, a fellow orphan whose skill lies in throwing stones. He doesn't speak much, and has a shockingly tragic past.

Chikara Jinguji |
A kind-hearted girl who cares for Kento, Danji and the Ragtag Bunch of Misfits left orphaned after the war. She acts motherly towards them and is disgusted by all kinds of violence. She often calls out Kento and Danji when they are misbehaving. |

- Kento originally had long, shaggy black hair. He had two prominent hair on the top.
- Danji had shorter hair, but one of his eyes was covered by his bangs.
